Toxins: I personally stay away from natural foods. At my age I need all the preservatives I can get.George Burns.

Avoid them if you can on daily basis and make it a habit. Being born in Chile and been here in Mansonville, Quebec, Canada is a blessing I’m very happy.

However one of the things that really bothers me is to see the use of toxins on everything we use daily, eat and breathe.

Now what can we do about?

Well, the way I’m doing is learning about how to read labels, understand the expiration dates, eating less meat specially beef and cutting on sugar consumption as much as I can. That’s a real challenge for me, but I need to look out on a long range meaning live longer.

Here in Canada where I live we have very strong laws and the fines are very strict regarding toxins, however it is not enough. I also avoid all kind of junk food and here are some other foods you should avoid.

For best results, eat responsibly and avoid heavily processed foods, processed meats, hydrogenated oils, alcohol, artificial colors and flavors, additives, white flour products (breads, crackers, pretzels, bagels, etc.)

High-glycemic foods, NutraSweet (aspartame), coffee, and caffeinated soda I just remember what a friend of mine told me once "just remember you are what you eat"

Our ancestors preserved foods naturally, using salt, fermentation, and sun drying. Food processing has evolved away from these simple practices into more complicated and dubious methods. Today, nearly six thousand additives and chemicals are used by food companies to process our food. Many of them can have a devastating effect on our health.

If it's boxed, bagged, canned or jarred and has a list of ingredients on the label, it's processed.

Unfortunately, the good intentions that characterized the processed food and meat industry during the early days have now de-evolved to finding ways to cheaply process food and manipulate buyers, regardless of the detrimental affects on the health of Americans.

Today, many additives and preservatives are harmful toxic chemicals as problematic as the decay they are used to prevent.

In addition to the nearly six thousand chemicals and additives in our food, preserving processes have changed beyond recognition from the simple use of vinegar, salt, and sunshine. Many processed foods are stripped bare, rendering them of little or no nutritional value.

Worse, foods are deliberately tampered with to create the desire for more. And the health effects of certain processing methods – such as the very controversial irradiation – are not yet known.
